It all started last summer. I went back to my high school (Buchtel H.S.) and Coach Powers and I had a serious talk. Pretty much at the end of the conversation, I told him I was ready. Coach P, did what he does best. He reached for his phone and he made one phone call.

Findlay University had just recently visited the school earlier that day. Powers said the Findlay coach; Cory Allen mentioned they were looking for a corner. Coach Powers drove me up to Swenson’s where coach Allen was having lunch. Anyone in the Ohio area, may know that Swensons is a very popular eat out in Akron. Even NBA superstar; LeBron James orders from there.

But anyway …

I spoke with the head coach on the phone, took a visit and I decided to take up my next task in playing football this fall at Findlay. For those who don’t know; coming out of high school, I confirmed a verbal committ to Indiana University. I was sent to a Juco and I ran into some trouble. I held myself accountable for my actions and as a man I’ve learned from it. I’ve grown and I am moving on with my life.

I’ve definitely come to realize that I need to stay humble and work hard. I took things for granted but I’ve been committed to myself, my family and teammates not to ever let it happen again. I have three amazing children and I will forever be a role model and positive figure in my children’s lives. They keep me going. I’m never going to give up.

I train with former NFL running back Delone Carter and former Akron U stand out RB, Brian Williams. I couldn’t ask for any better people to push me and have the best interest for me as far as my career goes. I’m blessed and excited for the upcoming season. I dream of going to the NFL and with God on my side, I believe it is possible.

The journey begins September 5th. My name is Nate Harris and that’s my story ….
